You can earn a High School Diploma / GED (General Educational Development) Online … almost. The actual GED test that yields the GED certificate must be taken at an official proctored exam site located in a city near you.

In North Carolina, basic skills courses and GED prep courses are offered at all of the state’s community colleges. Currently, a few of the community colleges offer their GED programs online, such as Wake Tech’s GED Online.  You should choose a GED program close to your home, because qualifying pretests, initial paperwork and orientation may be required to be done on-campus. Once enrolled in an online, all of the course material is available online. Be advised that there are many bogus online programs offering online high school diplomas that end up being worthless pieces of paper. Make sure that the institution offering the program is accredited by North Carolina’s Department of Public Instruction and will result in an official GED test and GED diploma. All of the programs offered by the North Carolina Community College System are accredited programs.
